The Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau Utilizes Team Building to Benefit Hospitalized Children in Phoenix
The Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau (GBCVB) partnered with Birmingham-based Cheeriodicals to host a philanthropic team building activity at the Religious Conference Management Association (RCMA) EMERGE Conference in Phoenix, January 7-8. During the conference, the Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau team hosted an interactive booth where attendees packed 160 Cheeriodicals gift boxes, which were generously donated to pediatric patients at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
The Cheeriodicals gift boxes were designed to deliver a much-needed dose of cheer to hospitalized children. Each Cheeriodical contains an assortment of age-appropriate activity books, crafts, puzzles, games and the Cheeriodicals mascot frog, all carefully arranged within a keepsake gift box.
The enthusiastic team from the GBCVB and event leaders from Cheeriodicals worked together to invite conference attendees to come inside the booth and pack their own Cheeriodicals gift box. Booth visitors also took time to write encouraging notes for each patient who would receive a Cheeriodicals box.
On January 7th and 8th, booth visitors enthusiastically packed and personalized 160 Cheeriodicals gift boxes. These were delivered to Phoenix Children’s Hospital on the afternoon of January 8th, bringing joy to the young patients. The hospital’s Child Life and Foundation teams were on hand to meet and greet the Two Men and a Truck Scottsdale delivery team when they arrived with the truck load of Cheeriodicals boxes. As always, the transportation of the Cheeriodicals boxes from the team building activity to the hospital was provided free of charge by the extremely-professional Two Men and a Truck team.
A team of representatives from GBCVB were on hand as well to assist with the delivery of the Cheeriodicals inside the hospital and the distribution to some of the pediatric patients. This team demonstrated genuine compassion by taking the time to visit the hospital in person, and their warm smiles clearly conveyed their care and concern.
The children’s faces lit up with delight as they received their Big Green Boxes of Cheer, filling each room with smiles and joy. This special day of giving back left an indelible mark on our hearts, and we’re reminded of its impact every time we see a child’s face brighten with hope and happiness on an otherwise challenging day.
“The donation of Cheeriodicals to Phoenix Children’s has made a profound impact on both our patients and their families. These thoughtful boxes bring joy and comfort during such a challenging time”, said McKenna Cave, Phoenix Children’s Family Centered Care Impact Coordinator. “Patients light up whenever they receive them, and the age-appropriate toys offer a welcome distraction, helping children feel a sense of normalcy amidst their treatment. For families, the Cheeriodicals provide moments of relief and hope, supporting emotional well-being and making the hospital experience a little brighter as they navigate their healing journey. We are very grateful for this Cheeriodicals donation!”
“There’s no greater joy than collaborating with local partners in Birmingham to bring cheer to those in need,” said Gary Parisher, President and CEO of Cheeriodicals. “We’re thrilled to partner with the Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau to brighten the days of hospitalized children, and this initiative has been one of our most impactful team building events so far.”
The GBCVB has partnered with Cheeriodicals for team building events several times over the last year benefitting hundreds of pediatric patients and families battling healthcare challenges in Birmingham, Cleveland and Phoenix. This partnership brings increasing joy to the communities we serve, highlighting the heart and hospitality of Birmingham through the tireless efforts of the Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau.
