On April 5, 2023, a team of more than 50 employees from JRS Pharma came together in Cedar Rapids, IA to pack 100 Cheeriodicals duffle bags for Veteran patients at the Iowa City Veterans Hospital. The duffle bags were packed full of patriotic items including a blanket, socks, travel tumbler, a copy of US Veterans Magazine, activity book, toothbrush, toothpaste and other convenience items.

This corporate team building activity with JRS Pharma marked the third time the company held an event with Cheeriodicals where their employees participated in team-driven work that benefited those in need in their respective communities.  In 2022, their corporate team based in Patterson, NY assembled and delivered 120 Cheeriodicals for pediatric patients at Connecticut Children’s Hospital Danbury.

Before the hour-long Cheeriodicals packing event began, Cesar Emano, Director for Center for Development and Civic Engagement at the Veterans hospital, personally thanked the team and explained how much the donation of 100 patriotic Cheeriodicals bags would mean to the Veterans.  This was a first time delivery of Cheeriodicals to this VA hospital, but Cesar had heard about Cheeriodicals deliveries at other VA hospitals and was excited to have his VA facility be a recipient of this donation.

During the Cheeriodicals packing process, the team from JRS Pharma took the time to capture some of their work in photos. We always enjoy seeing the smiles and the pride their team exhibits during our events.

After the team finished packing the care duffle bags, Two Men and a Truck, a nationwide moving company, generously donated their truck and services to the VA Medical Center by picking up the entire donation and transporting it to the medical center.

Once the team from Two Men and a Truck had finished unloading the Cheeriodicals bags inside the hospital, Cesar and his team from the Center for Development and Civic Engagement led a small group of five JRS Pharma employees inside, who then took the extra step to personally hand out the duffle bags to upwards of 50 Veterans.

Ken Seufert, the CEO of JRS Pharma, was the first one in the waiting room to pass out the wonderful care bags to the Veterans. He and the rest of his team spent nearly an hour distributing the gift bags, speaking with Veterans and thanking them for their service to our country. Here’s just one of the many interactions Ken had with Veteran patients on this unforgettable day of giving-back.
