Spreading Love in the Bluegrass: Cheeriodicals & the Greater Birmingham CVB Bring Lexington, KY some Southern Love
This February, our team made a historic stop in Lexington signifying the first Cheeriodicals event held in Kentucky. This milestone isn’t just about crossing a new state line; it is about the powerful community impact made when corporate partners join forces to brighten the lives of patients, families, and caregivers facing medical challenges. Our journey to Kentucky is thanks to our fantastic partnership with The Greater Birmingham Conventions and Visitors Bureau.
A Partnership for Good: Greater Birmingham CVB & Cheeriodicals
Our team’s journey to Kentucky was made possible thanks to our fantastic partnership with The Greater Birmingham CVB. For the past few years, The Greater Birmingham CVB has invited Cheeriodicals to be their philanthropic give-back booth activation at various different trade shows. We set up a station at their booth to bring attendees in to learn more about Birmingham and Cheeriodicals, while completing a notecard to be placed in a Cheeriodicals care kit being donated to the local children’s hospital.
Taking place during the 2026 RCMA (Religious Conference Management Association) conference, the energy was high as attendees gathered at the iconic Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY ready to browse the tradeshow, learn, and make connections.
In the midst of the conference hustle, 200 attendees wrote notecards for the 200 prebuilt Cheeriodicals care kits, each kit filled with gifts of toys, games, and crafts designed to provide much needed distraction and support for patients. These kits were destined for inpatients at the recently dedicated Golisano Children’s Hospital (previously the University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital).

On February 12th, just in time for Valentine’s Day, our team moved from the arena to the patients’ bedsides. With the help of Lexington’s Two Men and a Truck movers, all kits were safely and quickly delivered to the hospital. This delivery could not be possible without the gracious help of Two Men and a Truck who navigated both the conference center and a busy hospital to get these kits to patients in time for their Valentine’s Day celebration!
The next day, our team went room to room to hand out these special boxes to patients where a personal visit would be uplifting. The visiting team members talked with families and caregivers, and were able to show these patients that strangers from across the US cared about their health and happiness. There is nothing quite like the moment a child’s face lights up when they open their Cheeriodicals kit. It’s a reminder that even a small gesture can make a massive difference in a family’s hospital stay.
