Signing in from Orlando, Houston can you hear me?!
AVmedia and Cheeriodicals’ multi-city giveback event benefiting the Orlando VA
Virtual, hybrid, or in-person, Cheeriodicals is able to customize our unique giveback team building events to fit our clients’ needs, with the goal of making as much impact as possible. Recently, AVmedia, a full service live event production and creative company, put this claim to the test! During AVmedia’s annual “Family Reunion” Cheeriodicals was tasked with hosting two events simultaneously, one in Orlando and one in Houston. With the support from the technical experts themselves, AVmedia, Cheeriodicals dove head first into a new type of team building: live steamed events.
AVmedia: Treating their staff and community like family
“More than team, we are FAMILY” is at the core of AVmedia’s values, and their 2025 Family Reunion was a perfect demonstration of this commitment. From Chicago, Orlando, Houston, Atlanta, and Phoenix, AVmedia team members came together for their annual company meeting by hosting team meetings in each city. By cross-streaming the sessions, employees connected with their local teams while participating in the national event. This reunion involved many aspects, including a team building event hosted by Cheeriodicals for the Houston and Orlando meetings, that benefitted the Orlando VA.
Houston, We Do NOT Have a Problem!
Our team was excited to join AVmedia and experiment with this new style of event for us. “Before COVID, all of our events were held in person. The pandemic prompted us to add hybrid and remote options to our offerings—both of which remain popular with our clients today. This was our first request for a live-streamed event, and our team was thrilled to take on the challenge and see how it would turn out.” said Gary Parisher, President of Cheeriodicals..
The plan was to stream our team building presentation from Orlando directly to the Houston audience to create the feel of the whole team being together, with a Cheeriodicals event manager in both locations to oversee the process. With the plan in place, we were ready to see the AV masters in action.
The Houston and Orlando teams were eager to kick off their give-back event and Cheeriodicals was ready to guide them. Cheeriodicals’ event manager, Jessica Eller, opened the session from the Orlando stage, sharing the excitement of the day with both cities. Luis Sandomingo, Assistant Chief of the Center for Development and Civic Engagement, spoke about the impact these donations have on veterans living in their Domiciliary care program. The Domiciliary was initially established in the 1860’s to provide services to economically-disadvantaged Veterans, and is the oldest health care program in the VA. It now serves as a state of the art rehabilitation center for veterans in need. After Luis’s moving words, it was time to begin building kits for Veterans!
Both teams got to work, guided by their local Cheeriodicals Event Manager, who was on hand to assist wherever needed. By the end of the hour, these two teams had built 100 veteran duffle bags for homeless veterans living in the Domiciliary at the Orlando VA. It was a powerful, combined effort to show these veterans that not only does their local community care about them, but teams across the nation had them in their thoughts.
