Scaling the Joy: How DMCs and Local Event Specialists Help Us Spread Cheer Nationwide
After 15 years of delivering smiles across the country, Cheeriodicals has built an incredible network of community partners and corporate clients. However, as any event professional knows, a company’s “busy season” brings a unique set of challenges to our philanthropic give-back team building events.
To ensure every corporate give-back event meets our Cheeriodicals standards, we’ve leaned into a powerful secret weapon: Destination Management Companies (DMCs) and Local Event Specialists.
Why DMCs are the Ultimate “Third Option”
As a team of dedicated event managers, Cheeriodicals is fully equipped to lead every project we take on. But during peak seasons, our team is often spread across multiple states at once. Historically, this left us with a difficult choice: turn down a client’s desire to give back and spread cheer to their community, or produce the event with a skeleton crew.
Neither felt quite right to the Cheeriodicals events standards. That’s why we embraced a third option of contracting local event specialists. By partnering with DMCs, we gain access to professional, vetted staff who assist our Event Managers with day-of setup and execution. This allows us to scale our impact without compromising the turn-key professional experience our clients expect.
Precision in Phoenix & Scaling in Salt Lake City
In Phoenix, Arizona, we recently managed an assembly line event designed to build 240 care kits, 120 destined for Banner Children’s Hospital and 120 for veterans at the Phoenix VA Medical Center.
The schedule was tight; the build took place during a cocktail hour, meaning any delay in setup would lead to the line bottlenecking and an overall subpar experience. We reached out to Milestone Events locally in Scottsdale, who connected us with a top-tier local specialist. With that extra set of professional hands, the assembly line moved flawlessly, and our client enjoyed a seamless, high-energy event.
The stakes were even higher in Salt Lake City, Utah, where we hosted a massive event for 1,200 participants. Everyone was gathered with the goal to build 1,200 care kits for Primary Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House Intermountain Area.
Managing a crowd of that size requires calm under pressure and expert efficiency. We partnered with Summit DMC to source local contractors who could match our team’s pace. Utilizing Summit DMC meant we didn’t just have “extra bodies,” we had professional event experts who ensured the day was stress-free for the client and high-impact for the community.
More Hands, More Heart
At Cheeriodicals, our mission is to spread cheer, and that mission is amplified when we have the right team on the ground running events. Whether it’s an assembly line for a few hundred participants or a 1,000+ person ballroom team build, our partnerships with DMCs allow us to say yes to more clients and to spread more cheer and joy to those in our communities needing an extra lift.
