LabCorp Supports Children at Local Hospitals With Cheeriodical’s Big Green Boxes of Cheer

LabCorp has again joined forces with Cheeriodicals, a company that partners with community organizations and businesses to deliver “big green boxes of cheer” to children at local hospitals. Over 150 employees from LabCorp Diagnostics’ Northeast Division packaged unique gift boxes filled with activity books, room decorations, games and stickers. The boxes were then delivered to children in the Pediatric Care Center at Shore Medical Center in Sommers Point, New Jersey and in the Pediatric Unit at Shriner’s Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

“LabCorp is excited to bring a little bit of joy to young patients in Sommers Point and Philadelphia,” said William B. Haas, senior vice president of LabCorp Diagnostics’ Northeast Division. “LabCorp has had a long relationship with Shriners and Shore Medical Center, so being able to do something like this, and to see the smiles on the faces of the children and their families, is a very special opportunity.”

Sherri Jenkins, nurse manager of Shore Medical Center’s Emergency Department and Pediatric Care Center at Shore Medical Center shared, “We are very grateful to LabCorp and Cheeriodicals for giving the patients in our Pediatric Care Center something to look forward to with the delivery of these boxes. This is one more way we experience LabCorp delivering on its mission to improve health and improve lives. These Cheeriodicals boxes help make each child’s experience a little less scary, which was one of our main priorities when building the center.”

Stephanie Byrwa with Shriners Hospital agreed. “Cheeriodicals boxes will bring much joy to a patient while waiting to be seen by the physician or opening up the box after therapy or surgery. We’re so thankful for LabCorp selecting Shriner’s Hospitals for Children to receive some of the donation. At Shriner’s Hospitals for Children—Philadelphia, we serve patients from the Mid-Atlantic States and beyond for specialty pediatric orthopedic care and rehabilitation. The reach of this donation will go far.”

This is LabCorp’s third “Cheeriodicals Day” event over the past several years, during which employees put together and then help deliver gift boxes to hospitalized children. Cheeriodicals has worked with children’s hospitals in dozens of markets nationwide and is looking forward to expanding their corporate partnerships to bring cheer to more children’s hospitals throughout the country.
