Hospitalized Children Face Difficult Challenges

Let’s face it. Spending long periods of time in a hospital can be difficult for anyone, but it can be especially challenging when you are a pediatric patient.

Despite the brightly colored walls and best efforts of hospital Child Life staff, oftentimes even a children’s hospital can be a lonely or scary place for kids.  The children may not fully understand why they are there, how long they will have to stay, or even what will happen to them during their treatments.

But what if there was a way to bring comfort to these children and give back to hospitalized kids in a meaningful way?

Cheeriodicals is a team building company that specializes in helping corporate teams give back to local communities, and in this case, to local children’s hospitals across the nation.

Our Cheeriodicals kits for hospitalized children are designed to encourage kids through their hospital stay, bringing both joy and happiness to the pediatric patient and ultimately brightening the day of everyone around them as well.

The Cheeriodicals Kit – Hospitalized Children

Contents for Cheeriodicals boxes for hospitalized children include games, activity books, and much more. These kits can be branded with your company’s logo and personalized note cards inside every box.

Our Children’s Cheeriodicals have everything inside to bring comfort and joy to a child during their hospital stay!

These bright green boxes are packed full with activities, coloring books, hands-on puzzles, playdoh, games, and much more, all designed to spark the imagination of a child and provide hours of entertainment.

Our Children’s Cheeriodicals can be adapted to benefit a child of any age.  That’s because our team works with Child Life staff and children’s hospitals all across the nation to perfect the items that go inside each Cheeriodical, making sure every toy and book are not only age appropriate, but also meet the requirements and hazard guidelines for children’s hospitals.  We do all the preparation and research for you, so your team can just focus on having fun and making an impact!

These kits can also be donated to children staying at Ronald McDonald Houses, Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals, and Scottish Rite Children’s Hospitals.

There are endless ways to brighten the day of a child in the hospital with Cheeriodicals!

The Impact For Patients and Families

Cheeriodicals boxes bring both comfort and joy to children during their treatments and hospital stay.

Cheeriodicals has partnerships with hundreds of Children’s Hospitals across the nation – and the impact is immeasurable.

When children receive Cheeriodicals boxes, it takes them away from a world of machines, doctors, and treatments, and allows them to have a sense of normalcy.  The boxes provide hours of entertainment and comfort for the children in a time that could be otherwise scary or gloomy for the patients.

Not only do our green boxes of toys bring joy and comfort to the children, but the parents and guardians are moved by the kindness of these boxes as well.

Time and again we receive messages from parents of these children, thanking everyone from the bottom of their hearts for bringing so much joy to their child during a difficult and stressful time.

Here are just a few messages we have received from parents over the years:

“Thank you so much for easing my daughter’s nerves before her surgery! She loved every single item in her box!”

“What a beautiful thing you guys do for children going through a tough and confusing time!”

“My daughter is in hospice, this made her day!”

“Thank you for this special box… this made his day as he is in between treatments.”

“This box was a very nice surprise and distraction from the pain.”

“They brought the box in this morning and she was so happy, it almost made me cry.”

Recently we invited a guest speaker to a Cheeriodicals event who, at the age of 10, was diagnosed with a form of childhood cancer. She spent many days in and out of hospitals during treatments, and wanted to share with the team about the impact a Cheeriodicals care box had on her during her hospital stay.

As she took the stage at our event, she held up her green Cheeriodicals box and said,

“At age 10 I was diagnosed with liver cancer. I was going in and out of the hospital so much that the hospital was my second home. And what I want all of you to understand is that you’re not just giving a green box of toys to a kid.  You are handing them a portal to a world where they have a chance for them to be a kid again. Thank you for putting a smile on our faces when we needed it the most.”

The Impact For Your Team

Two coworkers share laughs as they work together to pack Cheeriodicals for hospitalized teens and tweens.

Bringing your company together to make an impact in the community can be one of the most rewarding experiences you can plan for your team.

Not only do team building events encourage communication and new employee relationships, but when you give back to the community in a meaningful way it also strengthens corporate culture and creates memories for your employees that will last for years to come.

We also find that during our team building events for children’s hospitals, participants tend to emotionally connect with this give back in particular.

Oftentimes our staff is approached by the corporate teammates with stories of having their own child in the hospital, or they themselves were a child in a hospital at one point in time. Knowing firsthand what the parents and children are going through, these team members are so grateful to have an opportunity to give back and show support for others who are going through similar experiences.
