Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

The month of September honors the children who are currently battling a cancerous disease or children who have overcome it. Many businesses, families, and individuals honor this month by wearing gold, donating money, holding fundraisers, and much more. September is the perfect time to team up to raise awareness and honor the children that are going through or have battled the fight with pediatric cancer.

Many corporate companies come together during the month of September looking to giveback in their local communities. With it being Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, it is the perfect time to show the pediatric cancer patients that the community cares about them with cheer up kits!

These big green boxes of cheer would not only impact the child receiving the kit, but also their family who is by their side. They are able to see their child who is going through the tough cancer treatments simply get reminded that they can be a kid again.

So why not bring your team together to build cheer up kits for these patients? Imagine the child opening up a bright green box full of colorful toys. That would instantly put a smile on their face!

Cheeriodicals Children’s Kit – What is Included?

Cheeriodicals green box and toys that go inside such as coloring books and a green stuffed frog

The Cheeriodicals box for hospitalized children includes toys and activities to help pass the time during treatments and brighten their hospital stay.  There are branding options to include your companies logo for these boxes.

Cheeriodicals consults with Child Life staff at children’s hospitals across the US and Canada to understand what should be included in each Cheeriodicals childrens box. With every items that is added to the boxes, there are two main considerations.  First, each item has to be safe for the intended age group.  Second, each item has to be fun – a key element in being capable of providing a much-needed distraction from the hospital environment.

The result is a big green box of cheer that provides hours of entertainment for the pediatric patient, as well as an opportunity for the child’s parent to relax and enjoy seeing their child distracted from their health concerns.

1) Toys

The Children’s Cheeriodicals kit contains many different toys to keep the child busy while in the hospital. Cheeriodicals has partnered with over 150 children’s hospitals across the US and Canada to understand what would fit the child’s needs and wants the best.

2) Coloring Books and Activity Books

In many cases, a child who is going through pediatric cancer treatments will have to miss school days and will get behind on learning. The coloring books and activity books are a great way to keep the child’s mind active. Coloring books are also a great way for the child to ease their mind with a simple activity.

3) Games

A great way to stay busy in the hospital is to play games! In the Children’s Cheeriodicals kit, there are games provided that the child can play by themselves or with others. This is a great way to involve any family members that may also be in the room with the child.

4) Stuffed Frog

Who doesn’t love stuffed animals?! The Cheeriodicals include a bright green stuffed frog to keep the child company. The children love giving their frogs goofy names and they make sure it never leaves their side.

5) Bright Green Box

All of the items listed above are packed into a bright green Cheeriodicals box. Opening up the box is such an exciting experience for the child as they get to reveal all of the goodies inside.

The Children’s Cheeriodicals cheer up kits are clearly overflowing with goodies and fun. They are an amazing way to give back to the kids in your community who are going through cancer treatments.

Whether you are looking to bring your team together in the office or want to include a teambuilding and giveback experience at your next conference, Cheeriodicals would be a great fit for you!

Cheeriodicals specializes in team building events of all sizes and has long standing, established partnerships with hundreds of children’s hospitals across the country.  Our team would work with you to choose the best local hospital with a pediatric oncology unit, and coordinate all details regarding the donation delivery.

Then, on the event day, your team would come together and assemble the Cheeriodicals for pediatric cancer patients.

Our Cheeriodicals team building events include:

  • An exciting, hour-long assembly event
  • Kit Supplies
  • Assembly Instructions
  • Inspirational Presentation
  • Guest Speakers from benefiting children’s hospital
  • Event Photos
  • Onsite Cheeriodicals Event Manager
  • Branding Opportunities
  • Option to attend the donation delivery
  • And more!

During the event, the participants follow instructions on how to put together the perfect box. They see first hand the amazing toys and other items that are included. Each participant gets to write a handwritten note to the child that would be receiving the Cheeriodical box. This handwritten note is one of the most special parts of the activity as the participant has the opportunity to brighten a child’s day with their own words.

Once the event is completed, a small group from your team would have the opportunity to attend the delivery of the Children’s Cheeriodicals kits to the hospital. In many situations, your team would be able to hand deliver the boxes to the pediatric patients.

During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September, your team could have a huge impact on the kids in your community that are going through tough battles.

You could be the one to put a smile on their face.
