15 Deliveries and Counting… Two Men and a Truck Brings Smiles to Scottsdale, AZ

It all started with our first Scottsdale, AZ delivery of Cheeriodicals in 2014. More than 1,000 participants from Thermo Fisher Scientific came together for the team building event and were tasked to pack 1,200 Cheeriodicals for kids at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Banner Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central and Northern Arizona.  This team building effort took place in the Phoenix Convention Center where the size and scope of this team was like the desert itself – vast and never-ending.

The Thermo Fisher team gathered together to make over 1,200 cheer up boxes for hospitalized children in 2014.

This first Phoenix delivery of the big green boxes of cheer was one for the memory books, especially given the actual size of the team building group and the number of Cheeriodicals packed.  With 1,200 green boxes of cheer, we needed even more than our usual support from Two Men and a Truck to load and deliver this massive number of cheer-up boxes.

With a moving truck full of goodies, our close partnership with David Frederickson, the owner, and his team from Two Men and a Truck Scottsdale was born.  This first Cheeriodicals delivery in Phoenix led to hundreds of smiles and one special smile captured in Phoenix Magazine that we’ll never forget.

One of our favorite photos from the 2017 Andersen Window and Door delivery to the Phoenix Veterans Affairs Healthcare System shows the impact of being there in person to deliver the gift box. We’ll always remember this Veteran’s heartfelt thank you even though we were there to thank him for his service to our country.

While all the corporate partners for our team building activities in Phoenix have been numerous and different, our delivery partner has stayed the same.  Whenever we have an event request in Phoenix, we automatically send an email to our anchor in Scottsdale, David Frederickson. He responds with a simple, “Just tell me where to be and what time, I’ve got you covered.”

We have so many photos from nearly a decade of partnership with David and his team.  They look like the same photos, but rest assured they’re all different.  Here’s just one of the many from a delivery to Phoenix Children’s Hospital in 2016.

And yes, there are occasions when our Two Men and a Truck partners not only provide the delivery of the Cheeriodicals, but also assist inside the hospital distributing the gift boxes to the kids or other recipients in person.  During a delivery by a team from Clorox, David was asked to help out.  This photo from Banner Thunderbird Children’s captured how David joined in with the Clorox team front and center to go room to room delivering smiles to kids.

Last week, David jumped in as usual to make a delivery for a 200+ participant team from Fisher Phillips from the Phoenician Hotel to the Ronald McDonald House Charities Central and Northern Arizona.  This delivery took place on a Saturday and this time it was just one man and his truck as David’s team was spread all over Phoenix metro.  He was the last man standing and he loaded and delivered the Cheeriodicals himself.

We of course captured a couple of photos on the delivery including the usual photo with the delivery truck and another photo with the Fisher Phillips team with Ronald McDonald himself.

One of the best parts of what we experience at Cheeriodicals is the opportunity to build relationships and friendships with our partners.  After nearly a decade of partnership and 15 special deliveries and counting, it was about time for some relaxation.  Let’s just say one of the awesome golf courses in Phoenix metro was calling and we made it happen.

The last hole did include a payout to David and that was alright with me.

Special thanks as always to our delivery partner Two Men and a Truck Scottsdale, David and his team, for making the magic happen for Cheeriodicals and delivering smiles to thousands of patients in Phoenix metro.
